Who is Anton du Beke? Strictly pro takes seat on judging panel to replace Motsi Mabuse

Strictly legend Anton du Beke will sit on the show's judging panel for the first time on Saturday night.

The pro dancer is stepping in for judge Motsi Mabuse after she was forced to self isolate following a trip abroad.

Announcing her absence from the Strictly studio, Motsi said: "Hi guys – Earlier this week I needed to travel to Germany for an urgent reason.

"I will of course be following UK government guidelines and self-isolating for 14 days.

"I’ll be watching from home and by the power of technology, should be in your living rooms. ‘Watch out though, I’ll be doing my own hair and make-up!"

And the there was great excitement on Friday afternoon when a tweet from the Strictly Twitter account revealed Anton was replacing her.

It said: "We are pleased to announce that the King of Ballroom Anton du Beke is stepping into our Judging panel this weekend

"Good luck Anton!"

Anton has been on Strictly Come Dancing since day one when the show started in 2004 and has partnered the likes of Anne Widdecombe, Ruth Langsford and Lesley Garrett over the years.

He reached the final and got his first 10s ever last year with EastEnders actress Emma Barton.

He is 54 and away from Strictly has been partnered by former show pro Erin Boag, with the two competing together and touring the country with their own show.
