Who is Anthony Hartigan? AFC Wimbledon midfielder linked with Bolton Wanderers transfer

The January transfer window is only a matter of weeks away from opening and Bolton Wanderers are poised to be active in the market.

Wanderers have experienced a spate of injuries of late and coupled with players departing the club during the season, reinforcements are required.

Last January, Ian Evatt's side made a total of eight signings which helped to inspire a promotion charge out of League Two.

Signings such as MJ Williams, Dapo Afolayan, Declan John and Kieran Lee have all become key players for Wanderers.

Midway through the season, Brandon Comley and former captain Antoni Sarcevic have both departed the club and central midfield is certainly an area of the squad which requires reinforcements.

Now, Wanderers are closing in on the signing of Anthony Hartigan, according to the Sun.

But who is the AFC Wimbledon midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer of 2022 at this current club?

Hartigan is 21-years-old and has come through the youth team ranks at the Wombles.

He made his debut for the South London club in 2017, in an EFL Trophy defeat against Brentford, and scored his first goal for the club later on in August 2017 against Barnet in the EFL Trophy.

So far for AFC Wimbledon, Hartigan has played 136 times and scored five goals for the club.

His only spell away from the club came in the second half of last season, when Hartigan moved on loan to Newport County in League Two, playing 14 times for the Exiles.

Hartigan has played 26 times for AFC Wimbledon this season in all competitions and scored twice, with one of the appearances coming in the early stages of the campaign against Wanderers in a 3-3 draw at Plough Lane.
