Who is Anneka Rice? Everything about the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 contestant

The fifteenth and final celebrity to be announced as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing is national treasure Anneka Rice.

The news was revealed this afternoon on the Steve Wright Show on BBC Radio 2.

Anneka said that she is feeling "recklessly excited" about joining the show.

"Strictly has always been my autumn’s entertainment and now I’m part of it! My children will probably leave the country," she said.

Who is Anneka?

The 60-year-old, who was born in Cowbridge, started out in broadcasting as a teenager before becoming one of the best known faces in television.

In 1982 she fronted Channel 4’s BAFTA-nominated game show Treasure Hunt. She also had her own game show called Challenge Anneka a series which ran for six years and made her a household name.

The mother-of-three was once married to British theatre producer Nick Allott and is now in a relationship with writer Simon Bell.

Has she done anything else?

She has completed an art degree as well as hosting ITV cookery show Sunday Feast.

She also appeared on Celebrity Mastermind in 2010 and quiz show Richard Osman’s House of Games. She's also presented Hell’s Kitchen, Sporting Chance, TV-am, Driving Force, Wish You Were Here, Capital Woman, Combat, Holiday, The Royal Variety Performance and numerous other shows.
