Ancy Sojan created history by breaking Anju Bobby George's 22-year-old national record in the women's long jump during the National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Bhubaneshwar on Saturday. The 25-year-old registered a leap of 6.88m to surpass Anju's previous national record of 6.83m, which was set at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Following her record-breaking performance, Sojan dedicated her gold medal to her father, saying it fulfilled his dream of having a national record holder in the family.
