Who is America? episode 7 finale as it happened: OJ Simpson sits down with 'Gio Monaldo'

Showtime

Who is America? reaches its final episode tonight, with Sacha Baron Cohen saying there will not be a second season.

Has he saved the best until last? The show has seen him fool Dick Cheney, Corey Lewandowski, Roy Moore, Joe Arpaio and more, with a Sarah Palin interview not even making the final cut.

In a trailer Baron Cohen tweeted ahead of episode 7’s broadcast we see all the fallout from the show, with some public figures stepping down from their positions and others vowing to take the comedian to court.

It ends with his Gio Monaldo saying: “Me and you we got something in common, we both – how you say – ladykillers,” before showing the person in question to be O.J. Simpson (who was famously found "not guilty" of murder in a trial verdict watched by millions), who is quick to declare: “What? No I didn’t kill nobody!”

Who is America? finale showcased the best and worst parts of the show: Review

Who is America? seemed destined to go out with either a bang or a whimper, but in the end it turned out to be one then the other.

Review to follow shortly.

It's telling that the best parts of the show didn't involve big name politicians at all. It often felt like SBC was shooting for the headline-grabbing moments, when it was the smaller ones with unknowns that were both the most funny and the most shocking. I still haven't shaken that mosque presentation.
03:27
To what end though? I'm not sure that interview should have even made the cut, let alone ended the series.
03:26
I guess Baron Cohen was secretly hoping for a confession here, but at least somehow got OJ joking about killing women.
03:23
A fake ending! Credits interrupted for one final Gio Monaldo hidden camera (?) segment.

Glenn carries himself in the dress, pussy hat and tote bag so well!

Rednecks spit-roasting an effigy of Donald Trump. The logical conclusion to these weekly training segments.

That compliment-off could easily have been a scene from Parks and Rec

"What is the aim of the Me Too movement?
"Take over the world. Kill all the men.

Wow.

Erran Morad trains Trump voters to infiltrate liberal circles with an in-depth knowledge of HBO's Girls. This is a lot of fun

This is some of Ruddick's finest trolling. The child prostitution receipt!

"I don't believe Donald Trump was giving Billy Bush advice on how to fight rats."

Billy Wayne up first in the finale, with former Democratic congressman Barney Frank.

We're about to get underway. I really hope this all ends with Erran Morad going "suit shopping" with Paul Manafort.

Half an hour out. Here are thoughts on last week's ep:

Sacha couldn't resist having a pop at Trump this weekend following Michael Cohen's testimony:

Sacha Baron Cohen brings back Ali G to send Trump a message

'Yesterday it was proven in de courts dat u iz a crook – respeck! U iz a genuine gangsta!'

Who is America? has aired Sunday nights in the US on Showtime and followed Monday nights in the UK on Channel 4.
