Who is Aldo Kalulu and what is his best position? The full lowdown on Swansea City's latest signing

Aldo Kalulu became Swansea City's fifth signing of the summer on Monday.

The Frenchman joins Jake Bidwell, Ben Wilmot, Freddie Woodman and Kristoffer Peterson in making the move to the Liberty Stadium under Steve Cooper.

Here's everything you need to know about the new recruit.

Who is Aldo Kalulu?

Kalulu is a 23-year-old French striker who joined Swansea on a season-long loan deal from Basel.

Who has he played for?

The versatile forward started his career with Lyon, making his Ligue 1 debut for the club against Lille in September 2015.

But he failed to earn a regular place in the starting XI with Les Gones and - after loan spells with Rennes and Sochaux - he left to sign for Swiss outfit Basel in 2018.

Kalulu made 17 appearances for Basel last season and still has two years left to run on his contract with the club.

What is his best position?

Kalulu's versatility was no doubt a major plus point for Cooper.

“I can play anywhere the coach wants me to," the new signing told the club's official website.

"I can play as a number nine or as a winger. My best position is behind the striker but I can play anywhere I am needed.”

How does his goal scoring record look?

Rennes - Apps: 11; Goals: 0

Sochaux - Apps: 34; Goals: 11

Basel - Apps: 17; Goals: 0

Does he have any international experience?

Yes, the attacker has won three caps for France's Under-18 side.

He is also eligible to play international football for Rwanda.

What has Kalulu said about the move and his key qualities?

“I had very positive discussions - he (Cooper) has a very good idea and philosophy of the game,” he said.

“I like it, it is a modern way of playing football. It is a little different from British football and this is why I came here.

“I will let people make up their own minds about me as a player but I am fast, I like to dribble and I want to score goals and make assists."
