Nothing can ruin a hankering for fast food than unwrapping your order only to discover hardly any fixings in it. For this woman, opening a nearly bare soft taco evoked such ire that she put Taco Bell on blast.
The photo posted by TikTok creator Alayna (@alayna.618) shows her Taco Bell mobile order. A soft taco lies on her lap with eight small potatoes, a meager heaping of lettuce, and a splatter of sauce. As a result, the measly taco evokes her ire, prompting her to call out Taco Bell.
“Actually driving back to get this replaced because what the actual [expletive] Taco Bell,” she blasts in the text overlay.
What did she do?
In the comments, the content creator revealed that only one out of her three tacos had this problem. Nevertheless, it didn’t stop Alayna from driving to the location to demand a replacement. Although the fast food joint remedied the issue, she was still irked.
“Disclaimer: they did replace it with a very handsome looking spicy potato soft taco but literally who in their right mind would EVER send this out @tacobell,” she expressed in the caption. “And why am i having to spend my gas money to get what i paid for originally?”
Viewers accuse Taco Bell of skimping
The post garnered over 172,000 views since October and resonated with viewers. Many had beef with Taco Bell for the same reason, accusing the fast-food company of underfilling its portions.
“I honestly feel like Taco Bell is telling their employees to hold back on portions because they’ve played with me the last few times I’ve been there,” one viewer commented.
“My old reliable location has been doing this lately every time I go…skimping HEAVILY. I swear corporate sent out a message to make everything smaller bc this never happened to me until very recently,” a second echoed.
“Taco Bell has gone way downhill. I still get it from time to time and am always disappointed,” another shared.
“THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO after a really tough day at work, and I got the potato taco, it was 99% lettuce and like 1 or 2 pieces of potato. I cried,” a fourth recalled.
Does Taco Bell have strict portion standards?
Because of the complaints, an alleged Taco Bell employee weighed in. They claimed workers must follow strict portion control, which could be responsible for the less-than-stellar amounts. Failure to comply results in consequences.
“We get yelled at if the taco doesn’t look like this. No. I’m tired of the comments of ‘ohh were trying to save the company.’ No. We get yelled at if add more [than] the required amount and our hours get cut if we don’t listen. Same goes for sauce packets,” they explained.
Indeed, Taco Bell is strict with its portions. Since 2023, the fast food giant has faced allegations of skimping on social media. Consequently, an alleged worker spilled the beans by posting a photo of the portion-measurement guidelines employees must follow r/tacobell subreddit. A year later, an article in The Sun echoed the strict requirements. But if an employee attempts to give generous portions, management allegedly frowns upon it.
