Who have been the last 10 players selected No. 222 overall?

The Arizona Cardinals’ final pick in the NFL draft next week is No. 222 overall, the eighth pick in the seventh round. Can they get an impact player? Let’s look at the last 10 years of players selected No. 222 overall to see.

2019: RB Kerrith Whyte, Bears

Whyte was drafted by the Bears but ended up with the Steelers. He appeared in six games as a rookie, ran the ball 24 times for 112 yards and caught one pass. He also returned 18 kicks.

2018: CB Jermaine Kelly, Texans

Kelly never played a down in the NFL. He ended up on injured reserve as a rookie before the season began in 2018. He was cut before the 2019 season and then, in December, was picked up by the San Francisco 49ers on their practice squad.

2017: CB Jalen Myrick, Jaguars

As a rookie in 2017, he appeared in five games. He returned one kickoff. He was cut before the 2018 season and spent most of the year on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad before he was cut in the 2019 offseason. He joined the offseason roster of the Atlanta Falcons and was cut before the season began.

2016: LB Aaron Wallace, Titans

Wallace played three seasons for the Titans, appearing in 13 total games with a total of 17 tackles and a sack. He was cut early in the 2018 season, joined the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad and was signed by the Denver Broncos in Week 17 that year. He was cut before the 2019 season.

2015: C Autin Reiter, Redskins

Reiter spent his rookie season on the practice squad with the Redskins and then was signed in 2016 by the Cleveland Browns, where he played two seasons and then was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. He signed a contract extension and became the starting center in 2019, starting all 16 games for the Super Bowl champions.

2014: RB Storm Johnson, Jaguars

Johnson’s only NFL games were in his rookie season with the Jaguars. He had 29 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns. He was cut before the 2015 season and then didn’t get picked up until the 2016 offseason. He was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the season and picked up in November by the Miami Dolphins on their practice squad. He re-signed after the season but was cut again before the 2017 season.

2013: TE Chris Gragg, Bills

Gragg was able to hang around in the NFL through 2017. He played three seasons for the Bills, but never played a full 16 games in any season. He appeared in 32 games, starting 10, and had 24 career passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. He landed on injured reserve in 2016 and, after signing with the Jets in 2017, he landed on IR again before the season.

2012: LB Caleb McSurdy, Cowboys

McSurdy never played an NFL game. He was cut before his rookie season. He spent the final three weeks of the 2013 season on the practice squad of the Rams. He split the 2014 offseason with the Rams and Browns before being cut before the season one last time.

2011: DB Anthony Gaitor, Buccaneers

Gaitor played two seasons for the Bucs, appearing in 12 games and starting two. He broke up four passes and had seven tackles. He was cut, spent part of the offseason with the Miami Dolphins but was cut and returned to the Bucs, only to be cut again before the 2014 season. He spent a few weeks on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in 2014 and then was out of the league until the Saints signed him in the 2017 offseason, only to get cut in May.

2010: WR Marc Mariani, Titans

Mariani was a Pro Bowl returner as a rookie in 2010, scoring touchdowns on both a punt return and a kick return. he spent four seasons with the Titans as primarily a returner. He spent all of 2013 on injured reserve. He re-signed in 2014 but was cut before the season and signed with the Chicago Bears, playing there two seasons. He had 22 catches in 2015 and returned to the Titans in 2016 to be their primary returner. That was the end of his NFL career.
