Who Gareth Southgate should take to Euro 2020 this summer, as chosen by our writers

All eyes are on Gareth Southgate with just hours to go until he reveals his England squad for this summer’s Euro 2020 - and here we bring you our writer’s combined dream Three Lions selection.

Having given their individual team picks throughout the week, we have collated all of their votes, creating their ultimate 26-man squad of who they believe can win at Wembley this July.

The 26 man-squad has some shock inclusions and big omissions, a line which many believe Southgate will be taking himself when it comes to making his final selection - though the England boss will be putting several players on standby.

So, let's look at the big talking points from our Mirror writer's ultimate England Euro 2020 squad.

There was much division amongst the writers when it came to the best defensive line-up, with only half including Kieran Trippier, the others opting for Michael Keane, meaning both ultimately miss out.

Although David Anderson was alone in his selection of James Tarkowski, there was one name that made every writer’s team-sheet: Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Whilst most had Phil Foden, Declan Rice and Jack Grealish heading up the midfield, there was much discrepancy as to whether Jude Bellingham should be in the squad, his name being left off the team sheet by a few.

Tom Hopkinson was amongst those who thought the Borussia Dortmund star should miss out, whilst David Anderson opted to leave out Jordan Henderson due to his recent injuries.

Does Jordan Henderson deserve a spot in Southgate’s side? Let us know in the comments here.

Up front, Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane were consistently picked, with Mason Greenwood joining them as a popular vote.

Neil Moxley was one of only two writers to include Patrick Bamford in their squad, with debate raging on as to whether Bukayo Saka has done enough to earn a spot for England this summer.
