Benjamin Nygren initially wanted to take Celtic's penalty against Kilmarnock on Sunday before Brendan Rodgers intervened.
The Bhoys were handed a late chance to win the match in the dying embers after Lewis Mayo was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own box.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Rodgers revealed that Nygren initially wanted to step up from 12 yards.

The Celtic boss intervened, though, and gave the chance to new signing Kelechi Iheanacho on his debut. The Nigerian made no mistake and won the game for his side.
"Benji [Nygren] wanted the penalty and had the confidence, which is great," said Rodgers. "But my message was for Kelechi.
"I know what he brings, I know the confidence he brings, and I also know what a goal would do for him. So delighted for him and for the team in particular because it's been a long couple of weeks, but it's a big win that for us.
"I think the last penalty he took was for me at Wembley against Manchester City in the Community Shield, he stuck that one away and that was his other moment there, and I think that's a big moment for him with the supporters and everything else.
"So, yeah, we got it, he's still got to score and he scored it and then we take the win."
Celtic moved back to the top of the Scottish Premiership table with their win on Sunday. They remain just ahead of Heart of Midlothian on goal difference, and nine points clear of city rivals Rangers, who sit 10th.
