Who First Bus are offering free travel across Bristol to on November 10

There will be free bus travel on Remembrance Sunday to any serving Armed Forces personnel, cadets and veterans so they can attend commemorative events on November 10.

The offer extends to all First West of England buses, including regular buses, Park and Ride and Metrobus services.

And to claim their free travel, First Bus boss James Freeman said all the current and former military personnel need to do is wear their uniform or medals, or show their military ID card.

“Remembrance Day is an important occasion for many people who want to remember family, friends and others who have been lost in all wars, both service men and women and civilians," said Mr Freeman.

"With this offer we want to make it as easy as possible for current and former serving forces to attend special events taking place in our region.

"Many of our employees, from drivers, engineers to office staff have served in the military or have friends and family members who are former or active members of the Armed Forces, so this time of year is particularly poignant across our sites," he added.

First Bus has provided free bus travel for veterans, serving personnel and cadets for many years before, but last year extended that to anyone wearing a poppy. That was a one-off for 2018, to mark the centenary of the Armistice in 1918.
