Who England may play in Euro 2020 knockouts as path becomes clear

England missed the chance to cement their place in the knockout stage on Friday after their goalless draw with Scotland, hours after the Czech Republic drew with Croatia at Hampden Park.

A win would've secured Gareth Southgate's side a place in the last 16 and they came close to going in front early on but John Stones' header rattled the woodwork.

In what could be a vital point for Scotland, they looked the more likely of the two home nations to score with Stephen O'Donnell forcing a good save from Jordan Pickford just before half time.

Both Lyndon Dykes and Che Adams came close but had their shots cleared off the line and sail wide, respectively.

The opening group match saw Raheem Sterling's second-half goal secure three points, avenging their World Cup semi-final defeat from three years ago, as a result, there is a bubbling pot of hope from the England fans as they look to win their first-ever European Championships.

Wembley will once again host the final group game but this time it will be against group leaders the Czech Republic with striker Patrik Schick in the running for the Golden Boot after three goals in their opening two games.

The Group D standings are far from concrete as the Czech's only sit above England based on their goal difference which is one better than the home nation's.

As the final group stage matches get underway on Sunday, England's path through Euro 2020 is becoming a lot clearer.

If they top Group D, they will face the runners-up from Group F, also known as the Group of Death.

Finish second however and they will be placed against the runners-up of Group E, arguably the easier tie on paper.

Who could England be drawn against in the Round of 16 as it stands?

Currently, England are second.

If they finish second, they will play Slovakia in the Round of 16 as things stand.

Slovakia upset 10-man Poland after Milan Škriniar's winner, they fell to defeat in their last match after Emil Forsberg's 77th-minute penalty.

The Three Lions play on Tuesday, should they beat the Czech Republic and top the group, they would face Germany as it stands.

Germany got their tournament up and running with an impressive 4-2 win over the holders Portugal.

Their final group game, on Tuesday, can see the whole nature of the group change as France, Portugal, Germany and Hungary could all progress.
