Who could TRNSMT get to replace Jess Glynne?

TRNSMT is the latest victim in the Jess Glynne fiasco, with festivals up and down the country suddenly losing one of their headliners at incredibly short notice.

Today's announcement marks the second cancellation this week, with Snow Patrol dropping out of their TRNSMT slot due to ill health.

Snow Patrol were soon replaced by Lewis Capaldi, to the delight of many fans - prompting the question: just who will take Jess Glynne's Sunday stage time?

Luckily for you, you don’t need to trawl through the internet to see if your favourite is a contender - as we’ve done it for you.

Bear in mind, there were plenty of indie, rock and hip hop artists, but sticking with the Jess Glynne theme here are four feel-good female pop singers that could be potentially waiting in the wings.

We're not saying any of them are making their way to Glasgow any time soon ... but we can dream now that there's a Jess Glynne-shaped hole to fill ...

Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie has been in the game for about six years, breaking into the mainstream with UK number one Rockabye as the main vocalist on Clean Bandit’s hit. Following that she released Friends, which was dubbed the friend zone anthem of 2018, and since then she’s released more top ten singles that are very festival friendly.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is no stranger to touring the UK and with the fairly recent release of her new EP, another festival on the list is maybe what she’s after? She’s playing Glastonbury this weekend and she’s known for being impulsive so if there are talks about it, there may be a chance to see her on July 14.

Charli XCX

Discovered on MySpace, Charli XCX has made herself an artist known for breaking all the rules, and in 2014 she featured on Number 1 single Fancy. Since then she has been releasing plenty of singles and collabs and with a world tour coming up in September, it might be a good idea to test some material out on the festival crowds.

Rita Ora

Although playing in Hungary on the 12th for another festival, Rita Ora is more than available for the 14th, so unless she’s planning to stay for a party (which she might, wouldn’t you?) you might get to see her come to Scotland sooner than you think. She’s made history as the first female British artist to have 13 Top Ten songs in the UK so you’re bound to knew a few of her tunes, whether you realise it or not.

So there you have it, four potential replacements for Jess Glynne! We'll just need to sit back and see who - if anyone - TRNSMT picks now.
