Who can Chelsea face in Champions League quarter-finals? Potential opponents for draw today

Chelsea are nervously awaiting their Champions League quarter-final opponents as the draw takes place today.

A comeback win over Borussia Dortmund booked the Blues’ spot in the ceremony in Switzerland this morning, with all eight teams now confirmed.

The draw is completely open, with no restrictions on facing teams from the same country or group.

Therefore, a rematch of the 2021 final against Manchester City is a potential outcome after Pep Guardiola’s side demolished RB Leipzig in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

No other Premier League side has made it to the final eight with Tottenham knocked out by AC Milan in the last-16 and Liverpool beaten by Real Madrid.

Chelsea will fancy their chances against a Milan team they beat twice in the groups while it would be a case of revenge against Real for last season’s quarter-final shock at the Bernabeu.

Inter Milan are also in the hat after edging Porto although Chelsea have never beaten the Italians following their only meeting, in the 2010 knockouts.

Bayern Munich are another team the Blues have a less-than-convincing history against, bar their 2012 final triumph. Benfica, plus Serie A leaders Napoli, complete the draw.
