Who are the Pottery Throw Down judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller?

The Great Pottery Throw Down returns tonight (Sunday, January 16) on Channel 4 and its two judges have captured the hearts of the nation.

With Keith Brymer Jones' heartfelt responses to each potter and Rich Miller's fair and constructive help, it marks the new era of the TV judge - a far cry from Simon Cowell's stern and unhelpful cynicism.

The Great Pottery Throw Down has been called "wholesome", "the loveliest show on TV" and has received other high praise from viewers.

Viewers have even been moved to tears by the show as it highlights the value hobbies can bring to your life.

Keith Brymer Jones

Keith describes himself as a "potter by trade" and says that his passion is ceramics.

He cements this love by saying pottery gave him a sense of escapism.

Keith started pottery at 18 and when he was in his first studio created ceramics for Habitat, Monsoon and Laura Ashley.

He states that less is more in his design philosophy and now pots in Whitstable, Kent.

Rich Miller

Rich, who is the ceramics technician on the show, has studied ceramics at the Surrey Institue of Art and Design.

For the past 12 years, he has been running Froyle Tiles, a company that specialises in bespoke tiles. He has collaborated with architects for his work.

Rich's passion for clay extends to his personal studio.

Rich's work references historical design patterns and has themes of British colonialism and immigration within.
