Who are the nation's most loved and loathed?

Kate Winslet has been named as the nation's favourite actress while Tom Cruise is both the biggest movie star and the most irritating actor. But who are the nation's most loved and loathed TV and radio stars?

Kate Winslet has been named as the nation's favourite actress while Tom Cruise simultaneously topped two categories as the biggest movie star, and the most irritating actor, in Empire magazine's online poll of 10,000 film fans published today. Steve Buscemi, of Fargo, Big Fish and Spy Kids fame, was voted the favourite unsung movie hero while Lord of the Rings was the favourite film franchise ahead of Star Wars. But who would get your vote in a poll of the nation's favouite TV and radio stars of 2005? Matt Lucas and David Walliams might be fighting it out with Bruce Forsyth, Catherine Tate and Simon Cowell in the most loved TV category. Mind you, all five could just as easily be up for the most irritating gong. As for TV frachises, do Big Brother and X-Factor still cut the mustard? And who would be your biggest radio star of the year? BBC Radio 2's Terry Wogan could find himself up against a popular local jock like Radio Northampton's Bernie Keith while Johnny Vaughan, Bam-Bam and Steve Wright could slug it out for the most irritating accolade. Who gets your loved and loathed votes, and why?
