Who are the favourites for the US Open 2021?

The US Open will commence at the Torrey Pines, California this week as part of the PGA tour

A prize purse worth $12,500,000 is up for grabs with the winner receiving $2,250,000 at the weekend.

Spaniard Jon Rahm is the favourite to win in California with Grosvenor Sport pricing him at 10/1.

The world number three has so far finished joint-fifth in the Masters tournament and has accumulated more than $3,500,000 with 10 top 10 finishes in 2021.

Reigning champion Bryson DeChambeau goes into tournament after climbing from 11th in the world to 5th.

The American won the Arnold Palmer Invitational this year but has since only managed to get two top 10 finishes - one in the The Players Championship and in the Wells Fargo Championship.

It will be interesting how these two will do in the South Course.

Tipped as the favourite, the Spaniard had to withdraw from defending his Memorial Tournament title due to a positive COVID-19 test where he had a six-stroke lead. He will be looking to make sure he gets the job done in California.

Bryson DeChambeau - 14/1

The reigning champion. DeChambeau is yet to finish in the top 20 in the major championships this year after finishing 46th in the Master's and 38th in the PGA Championship in South Carolina.

Dustin Johnson - 14/1

The 2016 champion will be looking to improve on his sixth-place from last year's contest. However, he has missed the cut in the last two major championships this year.

Brooks Koepka - 16/1

Did not play in last year's content but finished second in 2019, behind Gary Woodland and narrowly missing a third successive US Open win by three strokes.

Jordan Spieth - 18/1

The 2017 champion has finished ninth, 65th and missed the cut in his last three appearances in the tournament.

Patrick Cantlay - 20/1

Finished joint-third back in 2019 but since then Cantlay has not finished in the top 20 since.

Tony Finau - 20/1

The 31-year-old has never won a major and finished joint-eight in 2020.

Rory McIlroy - 20/1

Collin Morikawa - 20/1

The LA-born golfer picked up a PGA Championship win in 2020 but is yet to finish in the top 10 in the US Open. Missed the cut in 2020 too.

Not the greatest records in major championships - never finished in the top 10 of any of them so far in his young career.
