Who are Lil Icons - the Welsh act in the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals?

A Welsh dance group has sailed through to the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent.

Lil Icons, formerly known as Iconic, were handed a place in the live shows after the judges put them through on Saturday night.

The dance group, based in  Port Talbot , is made up of over 30 dancers between the ages of seven and 18.

As part of their act they dress up as music icons of the past and present.

But they only developed the 'iconic' concept this year, according to their dance teacher.

Terry Michael, who runs TDM Stage School, where the students are from, said: "The school has been going for 20 years.

"Lil Icons started in January - the students are of mixed ages from the dance school. It was something for us to do and was a fantastic opportunity for the dancers.

"We just thought of something new and original. It's quite fun and unique - we thought dressing as different international icons would be something nice to give a bit of entertainment that covers different genres of music from Freddie Mercury to the Spice Girls to Elton John.

"It's really funny because some of the kids didn't know who some of them were so had to do their research."

Since being handed four yeses at their first audition, the group has received online praise from names such as Michael Sheen, Katherine Jenkins and winner of the first ever BGT, Paul Potts.

They have also had support from the Spice Girls - Mel B's mum even shared a picture of them on social media saying how great they were.

But it's not the first time the school has appeared on the Britain's Got Talent stage.

In the past different teams from the school have made it through to the finals in 2012 and 2013.

"They are absolutely loving it," added Terry.

"People are getting right behind them in the area. They are being really supporive. Sometimes teenagers get a lot of bad press, but this is fantastic for them and good for the area.

"There is lots to look forward to this week. It's a really big performance - we have some new icons that will come up.

"They are so excited. Last night in London we did a flash mob - they had a fantastic response from people.

"They are getting a lot of support from their friends and families."
