Who are Colts WRs that must step up in T.Y. Hilton’s absence?

The Indianapolis Colts could be without star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton for multiple weeks due to a calf injury, which means the rest of the room will have to step up in his absence.

As the Colts move forward into the second half without Hilton, who are the wide receivers that must take on a bigger role in the offense?

Zach Pascal

Likely the one to step into the de-facto WR1 role with Hilton out, Pascal has been the most consistent wide receiver on the offense this season. He’s performed nicely in the absence of Devin Funchess, who is currently working his way back from a broken collarbone suffered in Week 1.

Pascal has 14 catches for 245 yards and three touchdowns on the season.

Parris Campbell

A rookie second-round pick, Campbell has dealt with some injuries of his own to begin his career. But he’s healthy now, and he should see a bigger role in the offense with Hilton out. The Ohio State product is a perfect fit for the offense, but he hasn’t been able to make an impact in his limited work.

Campbell has played more than 50% of snaps in a game just one time this season.

Deon Cain

It hasn’t been a great season for Cain, who has been trying to establish himself since a torn ACL ended his rookie season in 2018. He had the chance to win the WR2 role following the Funchess injury, but couldn’t make an impact with the chances given.

Cain was a healthy scratch in Week 8, but head coach Frank Reich said it’s probable he will be active for Sunday’ game against the Steelers.

Chester Rogers

Though he has been seeing a solid amount of snaps each week, Rogers hasn’t done much with them. His impact comes mostly on special teams as a punt returner. However, Hilton’s absence will cause Rogers to see the field more on offense.

Devin Funchess

Still, on the injured reserve list due to a broken collarbone, Funchess has yet to begin practicing. He’s eligible to return to game action in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it isn’t clear if his timetable will allow that.

If Funchess returns before Hilton does, the former likely becomes the de-facto WR1.
