At 8pm on Saturday, the Eurovision Song Content final kicks into gear once more, celebrating its 69th year on our screens.
Over the course of the next few hours, we will be regaled with some of the loudest, most colourful and (in some cases) bizarre songs that the 26 countries taking part can drum up. After all, it wouldn’t be Eurovision without a song about the space dog Laika (Ireland) or Estonia’s apres-ski anthem Espresso Macchiato.
Among them are British act Remember Monday, who will be debuting their song - What the Hell Just Happened? – to an audience of millions.
Though they didn’t have to qualify for the final round (Britain’s position as a sponsor means that, alongside Germany, France, Italy and Spain, they automatically make it through to the finals) they still face the daunting challenge of being judged and voted for by the European public.
Who are Remember Monday?

The band is formed of three women: Holly-Anne Hull, Lauren Byrne and Charlotte Steele. They’ve been friends for a decade: they met at sixth-form college in Hampshire, and grew up going to musical theatre classes. Hull even won the UK version of Disney’s talent contest My Camp Rock in 2009.
When they formed their band, they chose the name Remember Monday as a nod to the free lessons during school that they’d use to practice and sing.
They’ve also had numerous shots at the big time. The group entered the BBC One competition The Voice in 2019 (the audition song was Seal’s Kiss from a Rose). They did get a mentor – that ended up being Jennifer Hudson – but they didn’t win.
They’ve all had careers in musical theatre, and various members have appeared in shows like The Phantom of the Opera (Hull), Mary Poppins (Steele) and Matilda (Byrne).
In the years after The Voice, they started touring, and even visited Nashville to hone their country sound, releasing 2 EPs and 12 singles. In 2023, they quit their day jobs to focus on their careers – and in early 2025, they worked with Little Mix collaborators Billen Ted to craft a Eurovision-worthy pop song. After pitching it to the UK Eurovision team, they got the job.
Are they worried about succumbing to the UK curse of getting nul points (or indeed very few points)? “It was a conversation,” Steele told the Independent. “But we’d be mad not to.”
“We try not to think too much about the fact that there is a world where it might not go all flowers and rainbows,” Hull added.
They’ve also pledged that if the band’s song gets to the top five during the rankings, they and their whole team (that’s 35 people) will get matching tattoos of the song’s initials: WTHJH?
What song will they be performing?
Their song, What The Hell Just Happened?, was written with Billen Ted, Thomas Stengaard (who helped write Denmark’s Eurovision-winning song Only Teardrops in 2013) and Julie Aagaard (known as Kill J).
According to the synopsis, the song "chronicles the aftermath of a fun night out with friends, it perfectly showcases the band’s humour, relatability and their signature harmonies".
When is Eurovision on?
The final will air at 8pm on BBC One on Saturday, May 17.
