WHL Roundup: Davis scores two late goals to lead Hurricanes over Rebels

RED DEER, Alta. — Brett Davis tied the game late in the third period, then scored again to put Lethbridge ahead with 49 seconds left, as the Hurricanes defeated the Red Deer Rebels 7-6 on Wednesday in the Western Hockey League.

Dylan Cozens scored a short-handed goal for Lethbridge (31-12-7) and Alex Cotton, Logan Barlage, Jett Jones and Ty Prefontaine had the others.

Josh Tarzwell and Ben King scored twice for the Rebels (17-27-5). Keaton Sorensen and Zak Smith supplied the rest of the offence.

Carl Tetachuk started in net for the Hurricanes, allowing three goals on 15 shots through 28 minutes. Bryan Thompson stopped 15-of-18 shots the rest of the way.

Red Deer's Byron Fancy made 32 saves.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Taylor Gauthier made 34 saves and Vladislav Mikhalchuk and Cole Moberg scored in the shootout to lift the Cougars (16-26-7) over Seattle (20-23-6).
