A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an elderly couple were found stabbed to death at a home in southwest London.
The victims, a man aged in his 60s and a woman aged in her 70s, were discovered inside a property in Whitton on Friday morning.
Police officers were called to the scene in Redfern Avenue at 9.41am.
A 31-year-old man was arrested in Slough on suspicion of murder around 3pm.
The Metropolitan Police said the family of the couple, who have not been formally identified, were being supported by liaison officers.
Chief Superintendent Sally Benatar, who leads the Met’s South West Command Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the two victims.
“I want to reassure members of the community that this was an isolated incident. Having arrested a man this afternoon, we are not looking for anybody else in connection with the two deaths.
“I would like to express my thanks to emergency services colleagues, including Thames Valley Police who have supported our response to this incident.”
Detectives from the Met’s specialist crime command are investigating the deaths.
“Post-mortem examinations will be held in due course,” the force said in a statement.
“Formal identification awaits, however officers believe they know the identity of the two victims and their family are being supported by family liaison officers.
“A crime scene remains in place. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.”
