The sight of vintage cars from the 1930s against a dramatic coastal backdrop is set to drawn crowds of visitors when Whitley Bay Classic Car Show makes a return this year.
The annual treat for both petrol-heads and families has announced its date for 2019 and there is a call-out now for classic car owners who want to show off their vehicles - all in view of the revamped Spanish City.
The car show, which attracts thousands of visitors to Whitley Bay , will be back on the Links on Sunday, September 15 with a gathering of hundreds of eye-catching models from vintage motors dating from the mid-thirties to more recent models.
Now in its sixth year, the event is an opportunity for visitors to see a huge range of classics at close quarters and to talk to their owners about the history of the vehicles.
The display will include vintage buses which can take visitors on short trips along the coast. The day - which is free to attend - will also feature live music; a range of street food and small fairground rides for children.
It is organised by North Tyneside Council which iinvited classic car owners who want to take part to register their vehicles for a spot at the show.
Coun Sarah Day, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, called the show "a really significant event for Whitley Bay" and said: "So many people visit the town on that day and the atmosphere is brilliant: perfect for a special day out along our wonderful coastline.”
