Whitley Bay Carnival was back with a bang this weekend - wowing crowds with a stunning parade.
Last year, the annual event had to be cancelled due to Covid, and organisers put together a "lockdown carnival" instead, with people taking part in activities online.
But they were able to put together a colourful procession for Saturday afternoon, despite difficulties in running their usual carnival clubs, workshops and rehearsals.

The preparations took place with outdoor drop-in costume sessions over the summer holidays and shared video tutorials.
Businesses in North Tyneside also came forward to help fund the parade, which this year had a 'green' theme and highlighted issues around the environment.
The event opened with a rousing performance by Worldbeaters Spark in Station Road, before the parade headed along Whitley Road, Park View, Marine Avenue and across the Spanish City Plaza to Central Promenade.
The procession included schoolchildren as well as community group members, dressed in green-themed costumes.
And the event was given a big thumbs-up from spectators. Many went online to say how much they had enjoyed it.
One said on Facebook: "Thanks to everyone involved for putting on a brilliant Whitley Bay Carnival! It was so heartwarming."
"Brilliant carnival, very well done to all involved especially those who brought it all together, great effort much appreciated," said another.
A third added: "It was so lovely to see the lovely children and families at the carnival yet again. All the hard work that goes into the organisation is very much appreciated."
And another wrote: "Was great fun! Nice to see so many people out enjoying themselves!"
The carnival was held through a partnership between Whitley Bay Big Local and Salto Arts Productions, with support from North Tyneside Council and Arts Council England.
