Whitewater Shopping Centre throw birthday party for 98 year-old WW2 Irish veteran

Whitewater Shopping Centre has held a public birthday party for a special daily visitor, 98 year-old WW2 veteran Joe Woods.

This is now an annual event for one of the centre's most beloved customers who is a daily visitor to Whitewater.

Amongst the many treats that he deservedly got, Joe was serenaded by local singer Noel Porter, who performed his favourite track 'My Way' for him, as well as receiving an M&S birthday cake.

Members of the public were encouraged by the shopping centre to wish the friendly veteran a happy birthday.

As well as this, members of the Royal British Legion of Ireland (RBLI) presented him with yet another medal. District Chairman Brian Duffy of the RBLI presented Joe with his UK Veterans Badge, adding to his already significant collection.
