Whitevale Street attempted murder: Man, 62, left with life-changing injuries in 'horrendous and unprovoked' attack

A man has been left with life-changing injuries after being attacked in the east end what police are treating as attempted murder.

The 62-year-old was walking on Whitevale Street, near Slatefield Street, when he was subjected to a 'horrendous and unprovoked' attack by two men around 8.30pm on Friday, September 10.

He was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

It's believed that the two suspects had been on a number 60 First Bus coming from Clydebank to Easterhouse and got off at Armadale Street. They then walked along Duke Street before entering Whitevale Street and assaulting the victim.

The suspects were in the company of two women. The first man is described as white, 40-50 years of age, wearing a black puffer jacket, black trousers, and shoes. The other was also white, with short brown hair and wearing a black jumper and blue denim jeans.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly, Shettleston CID said: "This was a horrendous and unprovoked attack on the man. His attackers assaulted him repeatedly before running off.

"The two suspects were in the company of two women, one of whom was wearing a quite distinctive bright yellow jacket.

"From our enquiries so far, we believe the suspects, along with the women, had been on a No 60 First bus coming from Clydebank to Easterhouse and got off in Armadale Street. They then walked along Duke Street before entering Whitevale Street and carrying out the assault.

"Officers have been making enquiries and checking CCTV in the area but are still keen to hear from anyone who saw the attack or who recognises the descriptions of those involved or who has any information that will assist our investigation.

"Information can be passed to officers at Shettleston Police Station via 101. Please quote reference number 3687 of 10 September, 2021 when calling. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
