Whitelee Windfarm to offer 'firework free' dog walks this bonfire night

Whitelee Windfarm has announced that their 'Nae Fireworks Night' will be returning this year.

On November 5, dog owners can visit the windfarm for somewhere quiet to get away to and walk their pooches free from the loud bangs that bonfire night brings.

The Whitelee Countryside Rangers, Whitelee Visitor Centre and ScottishPower Renewables staff will be on site to manage the event and will do their very best to maintain a firework-free zone.

The event will begin at 5pm and the visitor centre will be open from 6pm-9pm for visitors to come in with their dogs for hot drinks and cake, toilets, and a seat. Takeaway is also available to enjoy outside or at your car, and outdoor seating is available on the visitor centre decking area and elsewhere, subject to weather conditions.

Signage has been put up around the area, making it clear that fireworks are not welcome and staff are encouraging anyone who sees someone entering the site with fireworks to please let a member of staff know or call 0141 614 0962.

Due to the size of the site and the number of visitors, organisers cannot guarantee a completely firework-free night, but will do their very best. Visitors should also be aware that the sound of fireworks can travel a great distance and may sometimes be heard even when set off miles from the windfarm, so it is recommended that dogs are kept on leads.
