Whitechapel shooting: Man and two women arrested after father-of-two shot dead in street near family home

Eron Miah was shot dead outside his home in east London

Three people have been arrested after a father-of-two was gunned down less than 50 yards from his family home in east London.

Officers were called to Whitechapel at around 10.30pm on November 19, where 40-year-old Eron Miah was found collapsed with a head injury.

Mr Miah was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and died two days later on November 21.

Police have now said three arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

On Sunday, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

A 30-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender on the same day, has been bailed until a date in late December.

On Monday, a 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder. She has been released on bail until a date in mid-December.

The death of the father-of-two, who was described as neighbours as a "loving father" who doted on his son, has shocked his community.

Mr Miah, originally from Bangladesh, had a seven-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter.

"Whoever has done this has broken the community," said one neighbour.

He added: “Eron never brought any trouble. He was a family man, and a loving father. It’s shocking because we’re all neighbours and it’s just even quieter now he has gone.

"His family won’t be coming back here, they are staying with relatives. We’re dearly missing him.”
