A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a home in east London.
Police were called to a flat in Whitechapel on Friday following concerns for the welfare of a female resident.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and a 35-year-old woman was discovered. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 37-year-old man was arrested a short time later in north London, the Met Police said in a statement.
Urgent enquiries are under way to trace her next of kin, it added.
A post-mortem examination and formal identification will be arrange in due course.
A spokesman for the Met added: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the death. At this stage, no other suspect is sought in connection with the murder."
