White van man's kind hearted gesture to a mum at McDonald's

A Belfast mum says that she was "blown away" by a kind hearted gesture made by a white van man as she took her children to McDonald's.

Megan Downy took her daughters and nephews to the fast food restaurant on Boucher Road at around 5pm to get them some dinner from the drive-thru.

Placing an order for three happy meals, a McChicken sandwich meal, two triple cheese burgers and medium fries, she went to pay for her order when she got a shock - the man in the van in front of her had paid for her order.

Megan said: "When I was told that the man in the van in front of us had paid for our order I thought I was being pranked and it was some sort of scam. I was worried that they might have paid for the order and taken it with them as well.

"But I was told that it wasn't a big joke and he had kindly paid for our food as a nice gesture.

"I really couldn't believe it and caught up with the man to say thank you to him because it really meant a lot."

Megan said that the staff at the McDonald's told her that the white van pays for a strangers meal every week.

She continued: "Apparently he goes to the McDonald's every week and does it for someone different, which is such a lovely thing to do.

"I have no idea who he is, but he really made our day and it sounds like he has done the same for many others."
