White tent in middle of road after woman hit by two cars

A white tent has been put up in the middle of a road after a woman was hit by two cars.

Merseyside Police along with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) and the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were called to Market Street in Hoylake, Wirral at 6.45pm on Wednesday, January 11, following reports of a crash. Once emergency services arrived at the scene they found a woman had been hit by two cars.

It was reported the woman was first hit by a Saab traveling westbound on the road, before being hit by a Ford Fiesta traveling on the eastbound side of the road. Both drivers stopped at the scene and paramedics arrived to treat the casualties.

More than a dozen police vehicles including matrix, who deal with serious road traffic collisions among other things, one ambulance, and a paramedic car were at the scene when The ECHO arrived at 9pm. Both NWAS vehicles left the scene a short time later.

One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, told The ECHO: "I didn't see the crash, but I heard it happen. It wasn't long before police, ambulance, fire service and a sea of blue lights were here.

"I just hope everyone is okay."

Merseyside Police have said a cordon will be in place for the "foreseeable" and are urging motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson from the force said: "We can confirm emergency services are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in Hoylake. We were contacted at 6.45pm tonight, Wednesday 11th January, following reports a female pedestrian was in collision with a Saab on Market Street.

"It is believed following the first collision she was then in collision with a Ford Fiesta. Both drivers stopped at the scene and paramedics were called to the scene.
