White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson leads on and off the field.

On Tuesday, Anderson and his wife Bria donated 205 Thanksgiving turkeys to families living in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Held at Anderson’s alma mater Hillcrest High School, he contributed Thanksgiving birds at the Homeplate Turkey Drive via a socially-distant drive-thru event.

Anderson, the American League batting champion in 2019 who won a Silver Slugger Award and finished eighth in American League Most Valuable Player voting in 2020, has been active in helping others off the field. He created Anderson’s League of Leaders to provide young people affected by gun violence with mentorship and the tools needed to succeed. He and Bria, who live in the south suburbs year round, have been involved in numerous events to give back to their communities.
