BOSTON — The White Sox signed Cal first baseman Andrew Vaughn, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, to the full pick value of $7,221,200, a source said, confirming a report from MLB Pipeline.
Vaughn, 21, batted .381 with 15 homers, 14 doubles, 50 RBI and 49 runs scored for Cal his junior season.
The Sox signed high school right-hander Matthew Thompson from Cypress Ranch (Texas), their second pick and 45th overall, for $2.1 million this week. That leaves third-rounder Andrew Dalquist, a right-hander from Redondo Union (Calif.) as the only top draftee not signed.
