White Sox right-hander Ryan Burr was placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 25) with a right elbow capsule strain. Righty José Ruiz was recalled from Class AAA Charlotte to take his place on the 25-man roster.
Burr will be reevaluated in two weeks. He has pitched to a 4.58 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 19 2⁄3 innings covering 16 relief appearances. Burr turned 25 Tuesday.
Ruiz, a 24-year-old converted catcher, owns a 5.11 ERA and nine strikeouts in 13 relief appearances over two stints with Sox this season.
