The White Sox released left-hander Caleb Frare and four others from the organization, the team said Friday. Also let go: lefty Matt Tomshaw, right-hander Zach Putnam and infielders Matt Skole and Ramon Torres.

Frare made the Opening Day roster in 2019 but spent most of the season at Class AAA Charlotte, where he was limited to 21 appearances due to a strained right quad and strained left triceps. Skole and Frare were in major league camp this spring but reassigned.

Frare recorded a 10.13 ERA in five appearances with the Sox. Skole batted .208 with six RBI in 27 games for the Sox last season. He batted .248 with 21 homers at Charlotte.

Putnam, 32, attempting a comeback, was in camp this spring on a minor league deal. He last pitched for the Sox in 2017.
