
White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada was reinstated from the injured list Thursday before the team opened a four-game series against the Texas Rangers at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Moncada strained his right hamstring while making a play against the Mets in the infield July 30, the day shortstop Tim Anderson returned from the IL after being out for 34 days with a high ankle sprain.
Moncada is enjoying his best season and was one of the Sox’ most productive players with a .301/.358/.535 hitting line, 20 home runs, 21 doubles and 59 RBI in 97 games when he went on the IL.
During his injury rehab assignment at Class AAA Charlotte, Moncada was 9-for-22 (.409) with two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored in five games.
Outfielder Ryan Cordell was optioned to Charlotte Wednesday to make room for Moncada on the 25-man roster.
