DETROIT _ Reynaldo Lopez improved on his last start and the White Sox rallied with six runs in the eighth to steal a 6-3 victory Friday against the Tigers at Comerica Park.
Sox hitters couldn't score off Michael Fulmer, just like the other time they faced him this season, but they pounced on reliever Joe Jimenez in the eighth and touched him for four earned runs in a third of inning.
Yoan Moncada doubled in the first two runs in the eighth and then the flood gates opened. Avisail Garcia singled in another run, chasing Jimenez. Daniel Palka and Tim Anderson then hit back-to-back doubles off Shane Greene, and Tigers fans showed their displeasure.
Lopez left the game after 111 pitches in 52/3 innings. He struck out seven and gave up four hits and two earned runs. He allowed six runs to the Royals in his previous start.
Sox manager Rick Renteria rejoined the team before the game after being medically cleared after a bout with lightheadedness.
