The White Sox placed pitcher Michael Kopech on the bereavement list Thursday afternoon. The move comes after he left Wednesday’s win over the Cardinals with a hamstring injury.
Kopech, who pitched a scoreless seventh inning, has been a force out of the bullpen. But the inning ended with him spinning around and falling to the ground after his final pitch. He hobbled to the dugout while biting on the top of his jersey.
The Sox also transferred outfielder Luis Robert to the 60-day injured list. Robert went down with a torn hip flexor earlier this month. It is expected to take three to four months, if not longer, for a full recovery, but it’s an injury that shouldn’t affect him after it heals properly.
In other moves, the team purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Ryan Burr from Triple-A Charlotte and sent left-handed pitcher Jace Fy on a rehab assignment to Charlotte.
