White Sox-Orioles delayed by rain

The weather at Guaranteed Rate Field was even worse than this photo shows. | Brian Sandalow, For the Sun-Times

The weather is nasty at Guaranteed Rate Field, but the White Sox say they’ll try to play Friday night’s game against the Orioles.

About an hour before the scheduled 7:10 first pitch, the Sox said they still expect to play the second game of the series with the Orioles, but the matchup may not start until 8:45. As of 6:20, the tarp was still on the field and rain was coming down hard, mixed with a stiff and cold wind.

The team said the forecast has rain until 8 or 8:15 p.m., with only a light rain to follow.

Assuming the Sox do play, their lineup will not include Yoan Moncada (rest) and Adam Eaton (hamstring). Tim Anderson (sore thumb) was back in the lineup on his bobblehead night.

Dallas Keuchel (3-1, 4.28) was set to face the Orioles’ Matt Harvey (3-5, 6.31). The Sox won the series opener 5-1 on Thursday.
