TORONTO _ White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana pitched seven strong innings to earn his first quality start since May 19 and first win since May 2 in an 11-4 victory over the Blue Jays on Friday night at the Rogers Centre.
The Sox scored seven runs off Blue Jays right-hander Joe Biagini in the first two innings to help his case.
Jose Abreu had three RBIs, with a two-run triple in the first and an RBI double in the second that drove Biagini from the game. Melky Cabrera added five RBIs, including a two-run double in the second and a three-run homer in the fifth.
Rookie Alen Hanson had three hits in the first three innings, including an RBI single to give the Sox an 8-1 lead in the third. But Matt Davidson's home-run streak ended at four games.
The White Sox scoring surge gave rare run support to Quintana, who entered the game with a 2.65 run-support average, the lowest in the majors and also the lowest in his career.
He responded by giving up just two earned runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts over seven innings. The only runs against him came on solo home runs from Kendrys Morales and Steve Pearce to open the bottom of the second and third innings.
Cabrera saved a run when he fielded Darwin Barney's single to left field and threw out Pearce trying to score to end the fifth.
Quintana finished his night when he snagged Russell Martin's line drive at his head and doubled Troy Tulowitzki off first base to end the seventh.
Jake Petricka pitched a scoreless eighth but gave up a two-run homer to Justin Smoak with two out in the ninth.
