White Sox left fielder Eloy Jiménez homers in 1st game of his rehab assignment with Class A Winston-Salem

Eloy Jiménez got back in the swing of things, collecting two hits — including a home run — in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday as the Chicago White Sox left fielder began his rehab assignment with Class A Winston-Salem.

Jiménez went 2 for 4 in Game 1 against Hickory with a single and a two-run home run in the 9-6 victory in a seven-inning game in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Jiménez batted third and was the designated hitter in Game 1. He lined out to left in the first and flied out to right in the third. He picked up his first hit in the fifth, singling to left field. He homered to left in the sixth.

He was not in the starting lineup for Game 2.

Jiménez joined Winston-Salem on Friday as he recovers from a ruptured left pectoral tendon suffered during a March 24 Cactus League game against the Oakland Athletics in Glendale, Ariz., while attempting to rob Sean Murphy of a home run.

Jiménez earned an American League Silver Slugger Award in 2020 after finishing second on the team in doubles (14), home runs (14), RBIs (41) and slugging percentage (.559).
