GLENDALE, Ariz. _ White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon was diagnosed with bursitis in his left shoulder after seeking a second opinion on the issue that will keep him out of the rotation to start the season.
Monday's examination confirmed Rodon does not have any structural damage in his shoulder, but it revealed he does have inflammation in the fluid-filled sac in his shoulder joint.
Rodon will be placed on a two-week throwing program in Arizona and then will be re-evaluated.
"It's based on how I feel, how I push it," Rodon said. "I try to take it slow, and if everything feels good, I want to be back with these guys as soon as I can."
