White Sox Game Day: Start of game vs. Indians delayed

Sept. 09--The start of the Chicago White Sox's game against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night was delayed as a line of storms approached U.S. Cellular Field.

The rain was expected to arrive at the field around 7:30 p.m. and last 30-45 minutes.

When the game does start, the Sox will send rookie Carlos Rodon to the mound in the second of a three-game series. The left-hander has been red-hot of late with five consecutive quality starts during which he posted a 1.85 earned-run average along with 33 strikeouts. Rodon ranks third among major-league rookies with 13 quality starts, fourth with 123 strikeouts, fifth in innings pitched at 118.2 and sixth in wins with six. In his previous two starts at home, Rodon was 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and .156 opponents batting average. Overall, the lefthander is 6-6 with a 4.10 ERA and 123 strikeouts

Rodon will be opposed by right-hander Carlos Carrasco (12-9, 3.53) for the Indians.
