Thursday's recap: White Sox 6, Twins 4

Sept. 04--J.B. Shuck's pinch-hit, two-run triple in the seventh inning propelled the White Sox to a 6-4 victory against the Twins on Thursday at Target Field. Shuck's hit against Twins reliever Casey Fien pushed the Sox ahead and he scored on Adam Eaton's sacrifice fly.

At the plate

Avisail Garcia had two RBIs, on a groundout in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Alexei Ramirez added an RBI single in the fourth inning.

On the mound

Eddie Rosario hit a grand slam in the third inning for the only runs against Jeff Samardzija, who snapped a career-long six-game losing streak with the victory.

Key manager decision

After singles against Samardzija and reliever Dan Jennings with one out in the seventh, manager Robin Ventura called on Nate Jones, who struck out Trevor Plouffe and Kennys Vargas to end the inning.

Key number

.260 -- Shuck's batting average in 32 pinch-hit plate appearances this year.

The quote

"In that situation, you're just looking for something up to drive to the outfield. I was fortunate to get something out over the plate. I was able to get the barrel to it and hit it where they weren't." -- Shuck on his triple

The quote II

"I just tried to relax a little bit. I had confidence in my stuff. That was probably the most important thing." -- Samardzija on limiting the Twins after Rosario's grand slam
