Saturday's recap: White Sox 12, Tigers 3

April 19--The summary

Jose Abreu's fourth-inning grand slam propelled the White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Tigers on Saturday at Comerica Park. Abreu's third homer of the season, off Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez, was the highlight of a seven-run fourth inning. Adam LaRoche hit a three-run homer in the third inning to give the Sox an early lead.

On the mound

Miguel Cabrera had a first-inning RBI single and J.D. Martinez hit a home run for the only runs scored against Chris Sale. He allowed four hits, with one walk and six strikeouts over six innings to post his second victory in two starts.

At the plate

Melky Cabrera tied a career high with four hits and had two RBIs, and LaRoche added an RBI double in the fifth inning. The Sox had 17 hits overall.

Key number

2 -- Career grand slams for Abreu. His first, on April 25, 2014, gave the Sox a walk-off victory against the Rays.

The quote

"We're 10 games in. We have a lot of guys in here who know the gig. We're not making or breaking the playoffs right here, right now. It's about staying confident, letting this kind of stuff roll off. When bad things come, you let it roll off and keep grinding." -- Sale on the Sox starting 4-6

The quote II

"There were just a lot of professional at-bats today. When you do those, and continue to do them over and over again, you get some results." -- Sox manager Robin Ventura
