Sunday's recap: Twins 13, White Sox 3

May 04--The summary

Trevor Plouffe hit his first career grand slam, and the Twins completed a four-game series sweep of the White Sox with a 13-3 victory Sunday at Target Field. Left-hander John Danks gave up seven runs in the third, including the Plouffe homer, but only three were earned following two errors on Danks. The Sox went 0-5 on their trip.

At the plate

Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey hit three Sox batters in the fourth, including Geovany Soto and Micah Johnson with the bases loaded to give the Sox their first two runs.

On the mound

Danks pitched 21/3 innings before reliever Scott Carroll took his place. Carroll allowed four runs -- one earned -- on four hits over one inning.

In the field

The Sox committed four errors in the first four innings -- two on Danks, one on Johnson and one on Soto, who flipped a loose ball over the head of pitcher Dan Jennings at the plate, allowing the Twins to score in the fourth.

Key number

5.52 -- Combined ERA of Sox starting pitchers.

The quote

"It was pretty awful. I set the tone. I didn't give us a chance to win from the start, so it falls all on me. Bad game, wasn't fun. But we regroup and get back at it." -- Danks

The quote II

"It's a bad week. There's no way around it. We played bad baseball. I don't think there was anything we were really good at. We have just to check ourselves and get back after it." -- manager Robin Ventura
