White Sox left fielder Eloy Jiménez was named American League Rookie of Month Monday. Jimenez hit .340/.383/.710 with nine homers, eight doubles, 25 RBI and 19 runs scored in September.

Jimenez, who signed a six-year, $43 million deal during spring training before playing his first major-league game, finished the season with 31 home runs, the most among AL rookies. Only José Abreu (36 in 2014) and Ron Kittle (35 in 1983) hit more as White Sox rookies.

Jimenez batted .267 with a .315 on-base percentage, 18 doubles and 79 RBI.

“Fantastic rookie season,” Sox manager Rick Renteria said of Jimenez on Sunday before the Sox’ final game. “There are a lot of rookies across the major leagues right now that are exploding onto the scene and doing great things. He’s one of them.”

Jimenez was named AL Player of the Week for Sept. 9-15.

Here are major league baseball’s monthly award winners for September:
