Adam Engel hit a three-run home run Friday to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 3-2 victory against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
Sox shortstop Tim Anderson went 2 for 3 but left the game in the seventh inning with soreness in his right hip.
Dallas Keuchel pitched into the sixth inning on the way to winning for the second time in as many starts. Keuchel allowed two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings.
Engel gave him an early lead with the three-run home run to left in the second inning.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez drove in a run with a single in the third. Perez went 3 for 4. Ryan McBroom hit a solo home run to center off Keuchel to bring the Royals within a run in the sixth.
Sox relievers Jimmy Cordero, Evan Marshall and Alex Colome combined for 3 2/3 scoreless innings to secure the win, moving the Sox to 3-4.
Nick Madrigal, called up earlier in the day, went 0 for 3 in his major league debut.
