MIAMI _ The White Sox jumped on Marlins right-hander Andrew Cashner with four runs and nine hits in five innings on the way to a 4-2 victory Friday night at Marlins Park.
Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon earned his first victory since May 22 by allowing one earned run over six innings while throwing a career-high 122 pitches.
In his first appearance since blowing back-to-back saves in Kansas City, Sox closer David Robertson picked up his 28th save of the year, pitching a perfect ninth inning.
Melky Cabrera and Jose Abreu each hit RBI singles in the first inning to give the Sox an early 2-0 lead. Tyler Saladino had an RBI single in the second, and Tim Anderson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Rodon gave up a leadoff single to Dee Gordon, who stole second. But Rodon struck out Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton to strand Gordon.
J.T. Realmuto gave the Marlins their first run with an RBI single in the fourth.
Rodon stranded a pair of runners in the fourth and fifth innings, striking out Yelich for the third time to end the fifth.
Sox reliever Jacob Turner walked Adeiny Hechavarria and gave up a pinch-hit double to Ichiro Suzuki in the seventh, and the Marlins scored on Gordon's sacrifice fly to center field to cut it to 4-2.
