The White Sox acquired veteran right-hander Lance Lynn from the Texas Rangers in exchange for rookie right-hander Dane Dunning Monday night, according to multiple reports.
Lynn, 33, went 6-3 with a 3.32 ERA and 89 strikeouts in a major-league leading 84 innings last season. He finished sixth in Cy Young voting after finishing fifth in 2019.
Dunning, one of the Sox’ top prospects, made seven starts in 2020, posting a 3.97 ERA. The Sox are also expected to send a prospect to the Rangers in the deal.
Lynn pitched his rookie season in 2011 for the Cardinals under Tony La Russa, the Sox’ new manager. He is in the third year of a three-year, $30 million contract.
